Conductive Technologies

Originally a division of Topflight Corporation, Conductive Technologies has grown into a successful bio-tech company whose products are used throughout the United States and Western Europe.

Conductive Technologies manufactures membrane switches and bio-medical sensors. A membrane switch is a keyless keyboard similar to what is used on a microwave oven input panel. Bio-medical sensors, based on printed electrical circuitry, is the largest portion of the business. An example of a bio-sensor is a blood glucose sensor. A drop of blood is placed on the sensor and the amount of glucose in the blood is determined through the electrical characteristics.

Conductive first utilized YCEDC services in 1991 during the original construction of the facility in the York City Industrial Park. YCEDC also assisted Conductive with procuring a Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan and financing from the Machinery & Equipment Loan Fund (MELF) in 1996 and 1997 when the facility was expanded to meet the growing needs of the company.

YCEDC is currently working with Conductive Technologies on yet another expansion project, helping to procure state aid from the Governor's Action Team for economic growth in which the Commonwealth has committed PIDA and MELF funds, training funds and a development grant. Conductive plans to increase their workforce by approximately 50 people over the next three years and expand their 60,000 sq. ft. facility by 33,000 sq. ft.

YCEDC was very instrumental in procuring the Commonwealth’s participation in this current expansion and was key in offsetting the overtures from the State of Maryland to relocate there. “It was a pleasure working with YCEDC and their assistance with the State of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development made it possible for us to receive much aid in preserving and growing our position in Pennsylvania. I would recommend to any manufacturer who is contemplating relocation to or increasing their facilities in South Central Pennsylvania to contact [YCEDC] first. Their guidance in the bureaucratic mine fields of state and local regulations is like a ray of sunshine.

I can’t begin to say enough nice things about their professionalism and their dedication to relocating and growing companies.” - Jerry Anderson, President & CEO of Conductive Technologies.
