NorthEast, Inc.
The national Manufacturing Technology Center, Inc. and the York
County
Economic Development Corporation lead an alliance of corporations,
industry organizations, research universities and municipal communities
in establishing NutriCore NorthEast (NCNE), the National Center
of Excellence in Foods and Nutrition Research.
NutriCore NorthEast
is a self-managed and ultimately self-sustaining Pennsylvania corporation
with full 501(c)3 not-for-profit status. NCNE has been recognized
for its accomplishments in funding leading-edge food and nutrition
research and building effective collaborations between industry
and government entities. NCNE received designation in 2005 as the
National Headquarters for the NutriCore hubs in CA, IN, KS, SC and
TX, and will be a key partner in the KIZ proposed for southcentral
PA.
NutriCore
provides a comprehensive, inclusive, national approach that will
increase the levels and the results of nutrition R&D without
substantially increasing the amount of funding available to perform
it. NutriCore is based on the DoD National Centers of Excellence
model: centers that are privately managed, directed and driven by
industry but operate in full partnership with
their federal agency partner, a very productive collaboration.
