E-Filing Options Expand
More small-business owners can use Pennsylvania's free electronic tax-filing service to file their personal income-tax returns this year, according to the state Department of Revenue.
The electronic service is becoming available to business owners because of a small change: The state added Schedule C to the service. That's a tax form used to report business profits or losses.
Many taxpayers bypass the Pennsylvania service by filing their state and federal taxes together electronically. Still, the state system is popular. Some 327,000 returns were filed through the system last year, Revenue Department spokeswoman Stephanie Weyant said. The system, known as PA Direct File, is available through the department's Web site, www.revenue.state.pa.us.
