Shared Kitchen Informational Session Held
An informational session was held on September 11, 2007 at the Manufacturers' Association of South Central Pennsylvania to gauge the interest of the community in a shared kitchen and educate community members about this program.
The PA Keystone Kitchens Incubator Team, made up of members from the Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program arranged for Cameron Wold, Ph. D., a well-known shared kitchen organizer and author of "Establishing a Shared-use Commercial Kitchen" to speak to the group of more than 25 food entrepreneurs and service providers. His trip and availability was funded by PA DCED/PA First Industries Agricultural Planning Grant and NE SARE/Appalachian Regional Council.
A shared kitchen incubator assists aspiring food entrepreneurs in becoming established in their market. Many potential food producers are unable to enter the market because of the high cost of constructing a certified kitchen facility. A kitchen incubator offers an affordable, shared kitchen, assistance of experts, and a community of entrepreneurs who provide valuable advice.

PennDOT Announces Nearly $4 Million Investment in 27 Airports
PennDOT Secretary Allen D. Biehler, P.E., recently announced nearly $4 million in funding to improve safety and upgrade facilities at 27 airports throughout Pennsylvania. "Safe, well-maintained airports are essential to the success of Pennsylvania's thriving aviation industry," Biehler said. "Our airports generate billions of dollars in economic activity and provide jobs for thousands of Pennsylvanians." Biehler said the funds will be used for a variety of projects, including runway and taxiway rehabilitation, airport development planning, acquisition of snow removal equipment and maintenance. The grants are administered by PennDOT's Bureau of Aviation and are completely funded by revenue from Pennsylvania's jet fuel tax. The state grants leverage more than $1.4 million in local matching funds.
York Airport will receive $221,250 for rehabilitation of the aircraft parking apron, rehabilitation of access road pavement, repainting of airport pavement markings, and security fencing expansion.

RR Donnelley Renews & Expands Lease
Brasler Properties and New Boston Fund, owners of the York Business Center announce the signing of a ten year lease renewal by its tenant, RR Donnelley and Sons in the 1.5 million square foot mixed use development. Chris Brasler, CEO of Brasler Properties noted that it's especially rewarding to ownership to have Donnelley, its first tenant in the completely modernized former Caterpillar Manufacturing plant in 2002, confirm their long term commitment to the YBC and even increase their space to 685,000 square feet. This will allow Donnelley to expand and add new operations at the Springettsbury Township, York County location. Improvements to the property include an expanded access road from the new Concord Road Extension at the East end of the 126 acre property, and new high efficiency systems. Patrick Lafferty of C B Richard Ellis's Harrisburg office represented the tenant.
