YCIDA Hosts Open House at Sovereign Bank Stadium
The York County Industrial Development Authority hosted an Open House at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Saturday, August 25. Over 750 people from the community came to the stadium to enjoy behind the scenes tours, face painting, food, balloon twisting and live entertainment. A free shuttle was on hand to provide transportation between the York Arts Fest and the Open House.
The YCIDA also held dedication ceremonies for the datestone and two time capsules that are to be opened in 20 years during the last game of the season.
Sovereign
Bank Stadium Construction Update
Work at Sovereign Bank stadium continues at a feverish pace, as workers strive to complete areas for the players before the end of the season. Since the opening of the remaining sky boxes and the 2nd floor function rooms on August 20th, the contractors are focused on completing the visiting team locker room (which will be the temporary Revolution Locker room) in the lower level. Current schedule updates show this area will be complete by September 6th, just enough time for the team to at least have their three last home games (and hopefully some playoff games) in a stadium with showers and locker facilities.
Every day, fans are able to see more and more completed as they walk around the stadium. Additional railing has been installed on the concourse level, the steel and utility pipes are being painted, and the home team clubhouse out in right field is almost completely brick. Behind the scenes, workers continue to finish drywall in the 3rd base concession area and the 2nd floor sky box catering kitchen, and other areas, such as the second floor executive offices, the first floor team offices, the ticket window area and the storage areas are ready for final ceilings and carpet.
Weekly schedule updates show a completion date of September 27 for all areas except the front plaza entry, which was decidedly delayed to start until after the season has ended (September 13th), so as to not interfere with fans entering Sovereign Bank Stadium.
If you haven't had a chance to see the community's newest asset, Sovereign Bank Stadium, visit www.YorkRevolution.com for tickets. There are home games every day September 1st through 6th and September 10th through 13th.
