Investors
Circle of York Gets National Exposure
The Investors
Circle of York (ICY) recently gained national exposure in an article
featuring Angel Investors in the New York Times. The following is
an excerpt from the New York Times article.
"With
Money in Their Pockets" February 20, 2007, Tuesday
By ROY FURCHGOTT (NYT); Small Business Late Edition - Final
Section H, Page 7, Column 1
Some try
to preserve each angel's independence. One group, the Investors
Circle of York in York, Pa., was formed to "fund local companies
or companies that move to our area, or that support a business in
our area," said Michael March, a co-chairman of the Investors
Circle. It holds regular dinners where entrepreneurs present ideas;
each member independently decides whether to invest.
But groups
of individuals are hard to corral. Working around members' schedules
makes meeting difficult and limits the number of deals. As a result,
like many angel groups, the York circle is considering a central
fund that a committee woud invest. It would mean a steadier flow
of cash to community businesses, as well as benefiting the group,
Mr. March said, because more investments "level out risk."
Investors
Circle of York Update
The Investors Circle of York met on February 21,
2007 at Chapps at the Hill. The first of two presentations was a
company that operates as a human resource platform for compensation
and performance evaluations. The second company presentation featured
a product to secure medication-use activities in hospitals, pharmacies
and other places where medication disbursement needs to be controlled.
Further discussion is planned with at least one of the companies.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 21. If you are an investor
or are looking for investor funding and would like more information,
please contact Jeff Baltimore
or Carole Swope.
Sovereign
Bank Stadium Update
- Over
the past weeks, construction crews continued to raise steel along
the first base side of the stadium complex. Masonry contractors
erected a large plastic tent over this area so that the brick
could be installed, even in the cold weather. The masons also
continued to place cinder block walls and build stair towers and
exterior walls.
- The concrete
crews continued to work in the outfield, pouring the walls that
run from dead-center field around towards the "green monster"
on the 3rd base line.
- Pipe crews
completed the relocation of the 60-inch stormwater line and also
completed the installation of the field drainage wet well, a 20-foot
deep concrete structure that will collect the field rainwater.
- Rock removal
continued on February 26th, with the first of many small explosions
to remove bedrock pinnacles that were sticking up above the field
elevation. Drilling and blasting for rock removal will continue
for several weeks, as there is approximately 3/4 of an acre left
to excavate down to grade.
- Excavation
contractors began shaping the seating bowl along the third base
side, in an effort to begin pouring the seating area in the next
few weeks, and concrete crews are preparing to pour the concrete
on the second floor of the first base side that will become the
floor of the 1st five skyboxes.
- Plumbers
and electricians have been concentrating solely on underground
pipes, installing ahead of the concrete crews that will soon pour
the floors in the concourse and restrooms.
- Behind the
scenes, the Industrial Development Authority has authorized Purchase
Orders for the video scoreboard, the kitchen equipment as well
as laundry equipment and playground inflatable moon bounces, slides
and obstacle courses. Final color selections have been made on
tile, wallpaper, carpet, countertops and paint colors as well
as the locations of the security cameras and exterior lights.
- Over the
next two weeks, contractors will continue with on-going work activities
and will begin installation of the field drainage system in preparation
for the spring grass growing season that is quickly approaching.

Any discussion
of Buddy Guy invariably involves a recitation of his colossal musical
resume and hard-earned accolades. He's a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
inductee, a chief guitar influence to rock titans like Hendrix,
Clapton, Beck and Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago's fabled West Side
sound, and a living link to that city's halcyon days of electric
blues.
