CareerLink
News
CareerLink is a cooperative effort
to provide one-stop delivery of career services to job seekers,
employers and other interested individuals. Its mission is to
function as a self-directed Job Search System providing quality
customer service to York County enabling all customers to make informed
choices. The goal of CareerLink is to provide a self service system
in which interested individuals have access to employment, education
and training.
- On November
29, 2006 PA Department of Labor and Industry Deputy Secretary
Sandi Vito informed South Central WIB that they met the standards
to be designated as one of Pennsylvania's High Performing Local
Workforce Investment Boards. This is an important designation
as the future ability to access grants from the state will be
influenced by the results of the designation. Dr. Garraty commented
that "All of us who work in workforce development in this
area should be proud of this accomplishment. From the staffs in
the local CareerLinks and Business Centers who placed thousands
of workers in jobs to the members of the WIB Executive Board who
provide guidance to the full WIB, this has truly been a team effort."
This designation comes with a significant financial reward that
can be utilized by the WIB for multiple workforce development
related activities.
- As a result
of the WIB's inclusion of the Utilities Industry as an exploratory
cluster for the region, the PA CareerLink York County's Business
Services Team (BST) recently undertook a project to identify employers
from that cluster. In early December a BST flier, which outlines
the business services provided by the PA CareerLink, was mailed
to these very important utility employers. Outreach to employers
has been an ongoing project for York County's BST.
