Request for Bids for the YORC Project

BID PACKAGE 3
General Trades, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Elevator, Fire Protection

The York County Industrial Development Authority (YCIDA) will receive sealed bids for Bid Package Number 3: General Trades, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Elevator and Fire Protection for the York Outdoor Recreation Complex in the City of York. Wagman Construction, Inc. is serving as Construction Manager for the project. Information regarding availability of bid documents may be obtained by contacting Jamie Swope at Wagman Construction, Inc., (717) 764-8521. Bids for Package 3 are due on August 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on July 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the offices of Wagman Construction, Inc., 3290 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA. This project is funded in part by funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Provisions regarding the payment of prevailing wages, bid, payment and performance bonds, and other requirements will apply to the project, as set forth in detail in the bid documents. YCIDA encourages the participation of DBE and local businesses in the project, as set forth in detail in the bid documents.

YCEDC Meets BREP Goal for 2005-2006 Program Year
YCEDC conducted 171 on-site interviews with York County companies for the Commonwealth's Business Retention and Expansion Program (BREP). With the program ending on June 30, there were 254 referrals this year to local service providers as a result of the Business Retention and Expansion Program.

BREP is an initiative aimed at pinpointing business needs and concerns. This program is a continuing effort to obtain input from businesses directly. Businesses are visited, areas of concern are identified, and action is taken through a partnership of private industry and state and local agencies.

Two Companies Present to Investors Circle of York
Two companies presented to the Investors Circle of York at their regular meeting at Chapps at the Hill on June 21st. One presentation was from a distillery and the other from a company that manufactures a unit to detect and identify pathogens. There was interest shown in both of the companies by the investors.

The next meeting of the Investors Circle of York is scheduled for July 19th. If you are an investor looking for companies in which to invest or if you are a company looking for investors, please contact Carole Swope at cswope@ycedc.org for more information.


On May 23, Darrell Auterson volunteered at Junior Achievement's Exchange City with the York Rotary Club.


Staff Attends Rural Development Conference
NCNE Coordinator Alan Cotich recently represented the YCEDC at a Renewable Energy Conference in Harrisburg co-hosted by USDA Rural Development and the PA Dept. of Agriculture.

Notable speakers in the day long program included Thomas Door, USDA's undersecretary for Rural Development; Gary Groves, USDA's State Director for Rural Development; Dennis Wolff, secretary of the PA Department of Agriculture; and US Senator Rick Santorum.

The focus of the conference was "Renewable Energy," of specific interest to the Agricultural community, and the $12mm in grants and $176 mm in loan guarantee programs in the current Farm Bill under section 9001.
