Brenner Holds YORC Press Conference
City of York Mayor
John Brenner held a press conference on Tuesday, April 25 at the
CGA Professional Center to announce major developments in the YORC
project. Governor Edward G. Rendell authorized the release
of an additional $1.5 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital
Program (RACP) funding for the construction of the stadium project
in the City of York. Site preparation is to begin this summer with
a completion date in 2007. York Professional Baseball Club, LLC
is prepared to move forward with sky box sales and the Name-The-Team
contest.

Codorus
Corridor Land Use Study Presented to Municipalities
YCEDC, in conjunction with the York
County Chamber of Commerce and the York County Planning Commission,
held a meeting with representatives from the municipalities involved
in the Codorus Creek Corridor project to unveil a comprehensive
land use study and economic development plan. YCEDC will work individually
with the municipalities to develop specific action steps to help
advance their priority economic development projects. Click

YCIDA
Board Tours Clipper Stadium
Members of the YCIDA board toured Clipper Stadium
in Lancaster on Monday April 3, 2006. As owners of the proposed
York Outdoor Recreation Complex (YORC), IDA members have sought
input from the very similar and recent experiences in Lancaster.
During the visit, Wagman Construction, construction manager for
the YORC project, reviewed the design and project schedule for the
York stadium.

Staff Attend BIO 2006
YCEDC participated as member of the Pennsylvania
Pavilion at BIO 2006 in Chicago, Illinois. BIO 2006 may prove to
be extremely beneficial to York County as YCEDC targets this industry
cluster in its retention, expansion and attraction efforts. YCEDC's
attendance at BIO and other high-value trade shows are part of an
over-all marketing strategy being developed by YCEDC and the newly
formed Marketing Committee. YCEDC participated with other members
of South Central Team Pennsylvania (SCTPA), an eight county region
marketing as the Smart Market. Ralph Rhode of FirstEnergy and Charles
Blankenship of Lebanon County EDC also participated with SCTPA.
