New
Hangers to be Constructed at York Airport
At
its February 15th board meeting, the Air Transportation Authority
of York County (ATAYC) agreed to be the conduit for a $200,000 capital
budget grant from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation for a new
hanger construction project at the York Airport.
Marketing
committee
A new committee has been formed under
the YCEDC board. The Marketing Committee will provide guidance and
advice to YCEDC staff on present and future marketing efforts. The
Committee will be especially critical to the Attraction Strategy
currently underway by the Business Development Department.
Codorus
Corridor Land Use Study Presented to YCEDC Executive Committee
The
YCEDC Executive Committee reviewed
and approved the River
of Opportunity: A Comprehensive Land Use Study and Economic Development
Plan for the Codorus Corridor at
their March 16th meeting. YCEDC staff will now present the study
to the six municipalities included in the Corridor and the County
Commisssioners in April.
Five
New Members Welcomed to YCIDA Board
The York County Commissioners recently appointed
five new members to the York County Industrial Development Authority
(YCIDA) board.

Currently the
YCIDA board is made up of 14 members, serving at the pleasure of
the York County Commissioners for three year terms.

Site Tracking a Success
With the launching
of the new website in February, the YCEDC has the capabilities to
track statistics for the site.
During the month of March, there have been over 7,011 visitors to
the YCEDC website. Of those, over 2,900 are first time visitors.
We have also had 9,450 page views from March 1 to March 30. Check
out the site at www.ycedc.org
or click on any of the menu options at the top of the page.
Duke University's Nicholas School of the
Environment Tours Industrial Plaza of York
Dr. Deborah Gallagher, Project Manager
and Sarah Jackson, Research Associate, toured the Industrial Plaza
of York on March 14. They are part of a group of researchers studying
the impact of state government public participation tools on the
involvement of disadvantaged community members in brownfields redevelopment
processes. The agenda included a historical and general overview
of the Plaza and a tour of Buchart-Horn, Inc. and BASCO Associates.
Also on the tour were Denise Brinley, Local Government Liaison PADEP;
Marcus Kohl, Environmental Justice Southcentral Regional Advocate
PADEP; and several YCEDC staff members.
