YCEDC Surpasses Campaign Goal
Coni Wolf, Chair of the Capital Resources Committee, announced at the annual member outing that the YCEDC had surpassed its campaign goal of $72,000.
Special thanks to Coni and our many volunteers for bringing the campaign to a successful close.

Thank you to all the York County businesses who have continued their support and to all the businesses who have chosen to support us for the first time! Without your support and involvement, we would not be able to achieve our mission to serve as York County's leading resource for facilitating economic development and to work with public and private sectors to enhance the overall quality of life.

YCEDC has exceeded the Pennsylvania Business Retention and Expansion Program's (BREP) first quarter goal of 30 visits, completing 43 interviews with York County companies.

BREP is an initiative aimed at pinpointing business needs and concerns and is managed locally by YCEDC. This program is a continuing effort to obtain input from businesses directly. Businesses are visited, areas of concern are identified, and action is taken through a partnership of private industry and state and local agencies. For more information about BREP, please contact Dawn Lenz at 717.846.8879 x3037 or dlenz@ycedc.org.

YCEDC Staff Present to Local Organization
On September 12, YCEDC gave a general overview presentation to the York Chapter of SCORE, Counselors To America's Small Businesses. The presentation focused on the services of YCEDC, including highlights on the Business Retention & Expansion Program, site selection assistance services, the Codorus Corridor development project, the YORC project and the various financing programs available to businesses. YCEDC staff also discussed the Investors Circle of York (ICY) and the York County Bankers Consortium.

York Outdoor Recreation Complex Update
  • Preliminary engineering work has begun on the York Outdoor Recreation Complex (YORC), with architect Tetra-Tech and construction manager Wagman Construction compiling a cost estimate for demolition and construction.
  • Residential appraisals are being reviewed with property owners. YCEDC and York City Redevelopment Authority are meeting with property owners to determine their relocation needs and preferences.
  • Commercial appraisals are being completed and appointments with commercial property owners are being scheduled to better determine their relocation needs and desires.
  • The Phase I Environmental assessment has been completed and revealed no major hazards or remediation needs. A more comprehensive Phase II Environmental assessment is being designed and will soon be out for bid to further investigate any environmental conditions that may need minor remediation.
  • The geotechnical test borings have been completed and have not disclosed any problems with the subsurface conditions. Preliminary findings from the test borings suggest that there will not be a need for a complex and costly foundation over the entire site.
  • Lease negotiations with Keystone Baseball are underway to structure an agreement that will be beneficial to the community and the team.
  • A neighborhood visioning meeting was held on Sept 14th to gather input from the area residents and businesses about how the YORC can be knitted into the existing fabric of the community.

York Group Tours Lancaster Stadium
On Friday, September 23, YCEDC coordinated a tour with the Lancaster Barnstormers for members of the York community. The following groups were invited to attend the tour of the stadium and the game between the Barnstormers and the Newark Bears: YCEDC Executive Committee, YCIDA board, York City Council, York City School Board, York City Redevelopment Authority, York City Planning Commission, York County Commissioners, Mayor Brenner, Better York and the local media.

Jon Danos led fifteen guests on a tour around the stadium complex, highlighting several key areas including the sky boxes, party rooms, picnic area, kid's play area, the playing field, and the press box.

The tour provided an opportunity for persons involved with decisions in the YORC project to see a finished product on game night. Those involved with the tour were excited to see how a family-oriented venue could be a huge asset to York.
