YCIDA Accepts Stadium Leadership
The York County Industrial Development Authority (YCIDA) has taken
official action to assume a leadership role with the outdoor recreation
complex project, in response to the recommendations presented by the ad-hoc
York Outdoor Recreation Complex Committee (YORCC) to Mayor John Brenner,
other City and County elected officials, private sector leaders and the
general public. "We applaud those members of Better York Inc. whose
vision, perseverance and financial contribution have been so important
in keeping this project alive and feel that we in the York area are indeed
fortunate to have such community leaders," stated John Krout, YCIDA
Board Chairman.
At a meeting on June
7, the YCIDA Board approved a resolution authorizing the undertaking of
an industrial development project for Better York Inc., in the City of
York, County of York, Pennsylvania; making findings and authorizing bond
financing in connection therewith in amount up to $8,000,000; and authorizing
other necessary documents and actions.
The YCIDA has been in
existence for 45 years and has a long history of successful economic development
projects throughout York County. According to Mr. Krout, "The YCIDA
is excited and looking forward to working on this important project. The
stadium and Northwest Triangle project are two important pieces of the
larger Codorus Corridor Redevelopment project."
The YCIDA in cooperation with the
York County Economic Development Corporation (YCEDC) will coordinate with
multiple municipal, county and private partners to move the project forward
in anticipation of a May 2007 completion date. "We're delighted the
business community and the YCIDA Board have once again stepped forward
to play a critical leadership role in spearheading local economic development,"
commented Darrell Auterson, YCEDC President. "As partners, we expand
our collective expertise to enhance opportunities for success with the
YORC project and within the Codorus Corridor."
For more information on the Stadium
project, contact Darrell Auterson, YCEDC President at 717.846.8879.
