SEDCO Approves SBF Funding for
York Company

In March, SEDCO approved a $200,000 Pennsylvania Small Business
First loan to Robnet, Inc. to purchase the real estate assets of Capital
Screw and Nut on Hartley Street. The state loan approval process has
been stalled by a Small Business First funding shortage. This popular
state matching loan program is a tremendous economic development tool which specifically assists small businesses with under 100 employees.
The PA Department of Community and Economic Development is
currently evaluating potential changes to the program for the 2005-2006
fiscal year to address the program's demand.

York County Alliance for Learning
YCEDC is teaming with the York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) to continue promotion of the Your Employability Skills (YES) program into the curriculum of York County high schools. This comprehensive program, which uses the curriculum developed by a business consortium led by Harley-Davidson, teaches the basic employability skills required to attain and retain a job. In addition, in order to receive a YES certificate, the program requires strict adherence to attendance policies and the passing of skills and drug tests.

Successful students receive a certificate signed by YCEDC, YCAL, Manufacturers' Association of South Central PA, and the York and Hanover Chambers of Commerce. Over 100 companies have endorsed the YES program and have agreed to give special hiring consideration, in entry level jobs, to high school graduates that have received a YES certificate.

Broadband and What It Can Do For Your Business
Even if your business uses a Landline (ISDN, DSL, T-1, T-3), High Speed Cable, Wireless, Satellite or even newer technologies, Broadband has already created numerous opportunities by which a business can transform itself into a more efficient, customer-friendly, leading edge competitor.

Much like the telephone, fax machine, the computer or e-mail/basic internet access did previously, broadband holds the promise for businesses to save money and maximize efficiencies.
